Fallout 3 Ships 4.7 Million in First Week - One Third of a BILLION DOLLARS!

I'm silly stoked about this game. I was a huge fan of the original Fallout, and the reviews of Fallout 3 have been incredibly high. The gaming industry just continues it's meteoric rise. I think the industry will be pretty recession proof, as  gaming is fun and relatively inexpensive.

YAY! STAYCATION WITH MY PLAYSTATION!

F3 is perfect proof of this. It doesn't have NEARLY the name recognition of Halo or GTA (the last Fallout game was released on PC TEN YEARS ago), yet it's still pulling down Halo 3 numbers.
Last week's launch of Bethesda Softworks' "After-the-Bomb" role-playing game Fallout 3 was, appropriately enough, explosive. The publisher took a victory lap today by announcing some early statistics for the game. Bethesda said that it shipped roughly 4.7 million copies of Fallout 3 around the world last week.

Portal 2 Voice CASTING! Character Spoilers! AWESOME!

Damn you Kotaku!

This is a hella tasty scoop...

A reader there sent in info from Breakdown Express (an on line casting/breakdown service for actors) on auditions coming up for Portal 2!

Click on this image below for more details:

Hmmm...

Becomes the primary antagonist, eh?

Does this mean there's no GLaDOS? Does she become an ally?

The mind REELS!

Thanks for letting me rip this off Kotaku! Though you really didn't have any say in the matter!

Wired delivers the Top Ten Love!

What can I say? I'm a sucker for top ten lists, and Wired's got a bunch of them for us.
Top Ten Gadgets
Top Ten Gadget Let Downs
Top Ten Videogames
Top Ten Vaporware
Top Ten Earth "Hacks"

All in all, I'm totally there. I only have two issues.

1. The kindle being on both the the TT gadgets AND the TT Heartbreaks.
2. The Tesla being on the Vaporware. Living in LA and driving by the Tesla store that's being built (Santa Monica and the 405, not cheap), kinda shows a bit more promise than true Vapor.

Weekly Wrap Up for August 19th, 2007

This is a wrap up of stories posted on the blog for the last week including stories about Dragon Ball Z, Free Music, Alex Albrecht SMS Alerts, The Simpsons Sound a Like Contest, The CD turns 25, Jack Palance Flips Out, Concerts on USB Memory Sticks, BBC and Net Neutrality, DRM Circumvention, Podcast traffic, and Thor gets his own movie!

My AC is busted, so I apologize for the fan noise in the background, but take a listen as I re-cap some of my fave stories for the last week.

Also be on the lookout for some cellphone alerts I'll be putting out, and I should be starting up a monthly poetry read in the next couple weeks.

Enjoy!
