Beginner Audacity Tutorial, WITH VIDEO!

Yes, an exclamation point in the title!

So, I've put together a little video with some basic tips to improving the sound of home recordings using Audacity.

And here it is:


Basically, we just want to clean up the sound of an audition. As an example, here's a sample of the audio used before cleaning:

Also, since the streaming vid is a little hard to see whats going on (even when you expand to full screen), I do have a high quality version hosted on divshare, but it's big (180MB) and DivShare is moving DOGSLOW right now.

RIAA backtracks after embarrassing P2P defendant

50 Cent busted lip syncing

RAPPER 50 Cent has suffered an embarrassing blow at the BET awards, when he was caught lip synching live on stage, watched by millions of people.
Entertainment site MediaTakeOut.com report that 50 Cent was caught out from the beginning of his performance, after being ceremoniously lowered onto stage on a podium.

But is it REALLY Better?

Idolator.com has had a lot of fun posting about the will-they-or-wont-they EVER really release an album hijinks of Guns and Roses. I've been following passively for a while, with an above belly button lint level of interest. I figured after this much time GnR must really have something good ready to go soon. Either that, or it will be awesomely bad on a historic level. Unable to quench my curiosity any longer, I finally dug up a youtube clip of a leak of their song 'Better', and listened all the way through.

Now, I'm going to go way out on a limb here, with a revelation that might shock you:

It's just ok.

That's it. It's decently written, decently mixed (maybe a tad over-produced, but it is Axl we're talking about here), a little self indulgent, and ultimately pretty forgettable. That's it. That's what we've (sort of but not really) been waiting for.

I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, and it's sublime genius on a level far beyond me...but I doubt it.

Tell me if I'm wrong (ignore the shite video, it was the best sounding audio I could find):

Just caught this "gem" on Idolator (which you SHOULD be reading instead of my crapping postings...jk....JK!....no no Please COME BACK! PLEASE! I'M SORRY!). Sorry to be so one-sided. I guess my "theme" for this last week should've been "Things that make me vomit a little in my mouth", because this clip totally gives me the burps...
