George Carlin - R.I.P.

Thanks for the laughs George!

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) — A publicist for George Carlin says the legendary comedian has died of heart failure at a hospital in Santa Monica, Calif.

Jeff Abraham says Carlin went into St. John's Health Center on Sunday afternoon, complaining of chest pain. Carlin died at 5:55 p.m. PDT. He was 71.

Carlin, who had a history of heart trouble, performed as recently as last weekend at the Orleans Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas. It was announced Tuesday that Carlin was being awarded the 11th annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

The dean of counterculture comedians, Carlin constantly pushed the envelop with his jokes, particularly with a routine called "The Seven Words You Can Never Say On TV."

How bout one more for the road...

One of My Friends is a Bert Fershner!

Have you ever, say, known someone for a little while (almost two years), and then suddenly find out that they just happened to belong to one of your favorite sketch comedy troupes of all time, and you just didn't notice.

It can really put you on edge, lemme tell you.

Well turns out that my pal Mike Rock, whom I've been working with through the agency for the last two years, and can be heard on the Kleenex commercial with the monk , is a Bert Fershner. That is awesome.

This clip of theirs is from the 1996 Aspen Comedy Festival, and being one of my favorite sketches, I've been able to recite this from memory for over 10 years.

You can check out more of their videos here.

Enjoy!

Mike's the one on the far left in gray btw...

MenSTEALia still getting pissy, now with Ari edition

Man, I've said it before, but where's the RIAA when you need them...

So, not much to say on this one. Carlos Mencia calls into San Diego radio show, tries to play magnanimous, they take a call from Ari (in the Joe Rogan video), Carlos gets pissy (while trying to offer his sage-like advice to Ari over "just being funny"), Carlos' people have the radio station pull the call, and interview over.

Take a listen.

I don't know, but where there's smoke there's usually a fire, so just interrupting the call just makes Carlos look guilty.

Also I think it's funny that they played a clip of old Ned talking about being Mexican, and that there are "different kinds of Mexicans"...

...

Which is funny ...

...

Cuz he's Honduran ...
