This is an excellent discussion. I'm a big fan of Tolkien and his works, as well as vampires. What you two discussed really helped me realized WHY I like Tolkien, WHY I like certain stories. And as one that writes my own stories, this was very helpful in the area of inspiration for me and what I should really be considering when I write. Crispin Freeman is a fantastic mythology scholar. Thank you very much for posting this!
